Giants standing their ground even without a number of the key pieces of the puzzle!
Looking back on first half of the season, the Giants have to be feeling good about where they are right now. They are 25-19 since Buster was lost for the year, 25-15 without the Panda, and 16-12 without clutch Freddy. At 11 games over .500 and a three game lead in the NL West, the sun is shining bright in the city by the bay. With the fourth fewest runs in MLB the Giants have had to rely on one thing, pitching. This can only last for so long. Sabean is no dummy and should be one of the GMs around the league that will will pull the trigger on renting/trading a couple players to help this squad make another run deep into the playoffs. The most important piece needed is a bat and a solid catcher. Getting a bat like Beltran or B.J. Upton would be huge. As for catcher, the only option I see out there is Ramon Hernadez. He is solid defensively and could definitely handle a great pitching staff like the Giants. It will be interesting to see what Sabean does before the trade deadline on July 31st.
Stay tuned!
Vamanos Los Gigants!!!
Cheers,
Mr.A
